Roger Bloyd

MCPHESON COUNTY — A Kansas man died in an accident just after 2p.m. Wednesday in McPherson County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2006 Freightliner semi driven by Roger

Bloyd, 63, Salina was northbound on Interstate 135 twelve miles north of McPherson.

The driver suffered a medical condition. The vehicle struck the guardrail on the east side of the roadway, continued into the ditch, ran through a KDOT fence and came to rest in a wheat field.

Bloyd was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the Forensics Science Center.

He was properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.

Roger L. Bloyd, 63, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018. Roger was born March 5, 1955, in Temple, Texas, to Dale and Virginia Bloyd.

He lived most of his life in Salina. He attended Salina Central High School and graduated from Bethany College with a B.A. degree in 1977. He and Judee were married June 20, 1981. He was an area manager for Fan Fair in Houston, Texas, a route man for Pepsi Snack Express in Salina, and a warehouseman-driver for Phillips Seed in Assaria. He loved his family, music, shotgun sports, and the Kansas City Royals.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Judee; his wonderful daughter, Abbi and husband Josh; his amazing grandson Wyatt; and his brother, Ron and wife Gala.

His Celebration of Life service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, at Salemsborg Lutheran Church, Smolan, with burial in Salemsborg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
